Today finds me freelancing for my friends at Genero (the guys I went to Switzerland with earlier in the year). I’m filming an awards ceremony as part of their live event crew at the SWALEC Stadium.
The beauty of working in the media is the variety of work we get to do and today is no exception. Far from being a straight-forward event for me, halfway through the evening I have to follow an illusionist through the venue with the camera & make sure I capture his close up handiwork on the screen in front of 600 people – no pressure then!
Live events are great fun to work on, the buzz you get from working with a large crew, watching a room transform from an empty space to somewhere that creates a brilliant atmosphere for the clients.
Well, it’s 1.11pm the cameras are all rigged – curtain up isn’t until 7, so it’s time for the only downside of this job. Waiting for things to start!
