Apologies that its been over a week since my last post – to say things have been busy would be an understatement!
When people see a film crew out and about, most of them assume that is where the hard work takes place. In reality, filming is probably the shortest part of the process. Something that might only take a day or two to film can take many days to edit. Once the footage is loaded onto the edit suite (we use a whole host of these – G5 Mac towers, iMacs and MacBook Pros for when we’re on the road) then the hard work begins. We do a rough, or offline, edit to shape the programme into a basic outline. Then we start refining, adding any graphics, captions, music, effects – as well as tweaking the picture and audio quality to make it look and sound great.
Why do I mention this? Well, it’s not just buses that come along at once; deadlines do too. Since my last post I have been editing films for MITIE and the Lloyds Banking Group, all the award video inserts for the SLCNG Awards, the latest film for Bron Afon Housing & tweaking the live concert we shot of X Factor star Rhydian Roberts. I’ve also been filming more at the Newport Gwent Dragons as part of the ongoing project there that red90 are heading for them.
Deadlines are great, I thrive on the adrenaline rush they give me. This is just as well because we have a shoot on Thursday at my nursery. We are going to attempt to do a photoshoot in the morning, edit the pictures and add them to an advert we are creating at the same time, ready to email the finished project to The Voice Magazine which goes to print Thursday afternoon. This is being undertaken by my great friend Paul Newton of PJN Photograhy – The Voice Magazine have been very good to us & we’re actually up for an award at the V Awards on Thursday night, so a busy day all round!
Anyway, excuses over – sorry I’ve been a little busy, I promise there will be regular updates from now on..
