The sun shines on the righteous (well ok – the moon!)

Following on from the pessimistic blog from the pub last night, I can happily report that the weather made its mind up to be kind to us poor camera crews in Cardiff Bay last night.

We were all set up ready for the 9.30pm launch, the clouds cleared, the moon came out… nothing happened. I then got a text from the fireworks guys to say that the launch had been put back until 9.58pm. Whilst we were hanging around in the cold, we could see clouds being pushed in on the other side of the bay and then the inevitable happened – down came the rain again, heavy enough to spray the lens, but not heavy enough for us to give up hope that the evening would be a complete washout.

Anyway, the fireworks finally started about 10.10pm, by which time (and after a few choice words) the rain had passed over and the sky had cleared again and for the six minutes that the display was lighting up the Cardiff Bay skyline, all was good with the world.

I’m currently editing the shoot & will post it here later – but for now I am pleased to report that it wasn’t just the cherry beer that made last night’s trip worthwhile!
